Star and date of birth
Virgo, 17 September
The best thing about being a teenager
You are free of responsibilities … you have energy and can plan your life.
I was always listening to…
English music
I was glued to the T.V. for
Nothing really … only to my own programme Video Junction. I used to live in hostel, had my studies. Didn’t have time to watch TV much.
My favourite movie was
Mallrats and The Shawshank Redemption. In fact, the advertisement I made with Wasim Akram was inspired by Shawshank Redemption – we even used the poster of the movie in the ad.
My favourite actor
Amir Khan, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Redford, Angelina Jolie … and so many others!
My favourite singer/band
Many … U2, Coldplay etc. I like alternative music and hard rock. My preferences have still not changed.
My favourite cartoon character or superhero
Tom and Jerry, Pink Panther and Superman
My room was full of
Clothes - scattered all over the place!
My room walls carried the posters of
I am not a poster type … do admire posters sometimes, but did not put up on my walls.
My closet was full of
Clothes foodstuff, perfumes … Actually, I had this one cupboard in hostel and all my stuff - even shoes – had to be locked in it. (Khaeen koi pehan kai na bhag jai)
My most precious possession
I used to collect coins. Took them to school one day and someone stole them. I also collected erasers of different shapes, but I distributed them among my friends.
My friends were
Good! I selected my friends well! I am still friends with them, although I don’t get time to meet them often.
My first crush/ my first date
Thousands! There was a girl I won’t name, but when I saw her after some time I said ‘shukar, buch gaya!’ My wife was my first date.
What hurt me the most?
When you are young you are not bothered, not for a long time anyway. I had fights, but would get over them in no time.
My dream was to become
A fighter pilot, but I discovered I was colour blind and so I did not apply. I was interested in arts, won many painting competitions. My brother Imran Qureshi is an artist, and he thought I had talent.
I wish I had known then…
I like unexpected things; you see, when you already know something beforehand, there is no adventure, because you know what is going to happen.
Relations with siblings
Good! I was the youngest but still used to fight with my siblings.
Relations with parents
I was the ladla, being the youngest child of my parents.
My school
Public School Hyderabad
Ragging at college/university
My seniors at college were my brother’s best friends. They forced me to watch a Punjabi movie ‘Kalay Chor’ daily and I did not understand Punjabi so well!
I couldn’t stand
Breaking commitment - still cannot stand it!
My favourite hangout
I was at NCA, Lahore, and as I said earlier I lived in the hostel. I was already working and Rs500 -600 that I earned from TV shows was a big amount, that I used to spend at Bun Plaster – a roadside dhaba near my college. |
