  You $ Me
You! takes a look at the likes and dislikes of model, actor and singer Meesha Shafi...

  By S. K

Admit it girls, we all fancy our celebs. The glitz of their glamorous world attracts us - what they wear, where they shop, where they hangout, what they dream of, their love-interests, their favourite things - we love to get the scoop. Keeping this in mind, from time to time You! is going to share some interesting tete-a-tete with popular celebrities.

This week meet Meesha Shafi who is a strange combination of talent and glamour. Shafi has proved herself to be a person with multiple, well cultivated talents. She has been a successful model and has served as the Pakistani spokesperson for L'Oreal. Shafi grew up in Lahore and has been singing since before she can remember. Her musical career picked up when she was an art student at the National College of Arts in Lahore. However, her last performance on Coke Studio two years ago was a turning point in her musical career. Before that she was known as an artist performing rock music to select elite audiences. This year, Shafi returns to Coke Studio Season 5 proving herself to be one of the most dynamic artists whose voice has added a new dimension to a range of traditional and modern music. Shafi has also starred in acclaimed feature films 'Waar' and the Hollywood venture, 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist'. Let's read about her likes and dislikes...

How was your experience of Coke Studio?

It was phenomenal two years ago and again this year. It's the perfect combination of creativity and professionalism.

What are you currently working on?

My calendar is fully booked till the end of this year. I find this to be exciting and daunting at the same time. So far, commitments in the coming months range from new movies to new music.

Your claim to fame song

'Jugni' with Arif Lohar

What do you usually wear in daily life?

Anything comfortable

Your favourite international labels

Marc Jacobs; Chanel; D&G; Chloe...the list goes on...

Your favourite international music celebrity

'Florence + the machine'.

Your favourite music composer

A.R.Rehman, Peter Gabriel, Rohail Hyatt...this list could go on as well...

Who is your icon in the music industry?

Ali Azmat!

Your favourite designer

Kamiar Rokni, Muse and Elan.

Your favourite photographer

Ather Shehzad for sure!

What is one cosmetic you cannot do without?

L'Oreal Paris eyeliner in 'Carbon Gloss'.

When stepping out, do you wear makeup all the time?

I hardly ever wear makeup. Only when I have to - mostly for work or a fancy night out.

One thing you like best about yourself

I have a good head on my shoulders. I don't have a tendency of letting stardom get to my head. Because of this, hopefully I won't end up with an inflated ego. So many people in showbiz let their egos consume them. It's really sad.

You like guys who are....

Not threatened by girls.

Your favourite co-star

Riz Ahmed.

You don't like people who are...

Always more concerned with what others are doing, rather than putting their energies into something beneficial for themselves. It's a sign of outright stupidity.

You are afraid of..

Weak health.

Your most valuable possession

Material possessions are hardly of any value. It's my loved ones that I cherish the most.

Your all time favourite movie

‘Casino’

Are you a shopaholic?

Most definitely!

What bores you the most...

Sitting around and waiting for work to start. It happens a lot more than it should in showbiz.

When feeling low you prefer:

Surrounding myself with my dear ones or taking a short holiday.

You are crazy about...

Travelling.

Among your friends you are known as..

A dragon. That's their term for someone who is always lazing around.

Are you a social person or a loner?

I hate being alone. I'm most certainly a people's person.

How do you like to spend your Sundays?

Any day can be a Sunday for an artist. In my line of work, Sundays don't mean the same as they do for people who have routine jobs and fixed hours.

Your beauty regimen...

Is pretty basic. I cleanse and moisturize twice a day and I am very particular about oiling my hair.

Your ultimate desire...

To have a healthy, happy life and look back at a treasure trove of happy memories with family and friends.

In your younger days, who were your musical icons?

Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali, Reshma and many more...

Describe Meesha Shafi in three words:

Strong, loyal and balanced.
