25-year-old Elizabeth Grant, who goes by the stage name of Lana Del Rey, shot to superstardom with her debut album, Born to Die. With singles like 'Video Games', Lana quickly established herself as a moody pop sensation. But the singer has admitted that she found it "scary" when some people didn't accept her personality. "What's scary is when you have your focus on being a writer for 10 years, and after that people decide they don't like you," said the singer. "That's off-putting, because when you've put all your work into crafting words and melodies, and then people start just thinking about you and judging you as a person that's a little off-putting. But the rest of it isn't scary, it's just sort of different." These days, Lana is touring. Two days ago, she played at the opening day of the Isle Of Wight festival. The singer is set to debut her new single, 'National Anthem' earlier next month. Her debut record, meanwhile, is selling very well, with over 2 million copies sold.
Madonna is nothing if not eccentric. As time passes by, her eccentricity takes new heights. The iconic singer who is on a massive world tour has hired a special team to clear her DNA from every venue. Yes, Madonna is worried that someone might steal her DNA! Alvaro Ramos, the concert promoter who is handling the Portuguese leg of the tour told The Winnipeg Free Press: "We have to take extreme care, like I have never seen for any other artist. We cannot even look at the dressing room, after it is ready, or even open the door." He added: "We can only enter after her sterilisation team has left the room. There will not be any of Madonna's DNA, any hair, or anything. They will clean up everything. In the end it is all to protect her and make her feel comfortable. I do understand it, but it is taken to extremes." A source close to the singer, meanwhile, added: "She is a perfectionist, and expects the best. But then, at her age and with her status, why shouldn't she?"
The Black Keys delivered a beautiful rock record in 2011 with El Camino. With singles such as 'Lonely Boy' and 'Gold on the Ceiling', the band topped charts around the world. Now the duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are coming back with a new record this July. Speaking to Rolling Stone, drummer Patrick Carney said, "We're going back in the studio in July. We'll have a couple weeks to start the next album then." Asked if the album would be released next year, meanwhile, he added: “That's what we hope for, yeah. We don't know when we'll be done but we're starting it in July. We might not finish it until March since we have to tour so much but we'll see. We don't know what's going on. After July, we'll be able to know how long it'll take.” |
