Home is your own little territory which provides you a comfortable, peaceful, and a soothing environment. And home decoration is all about creativity and fresh presentation with brightness filled all over. The new bright wall colours, furniture, carpets, curtains, cushion covers, wall paintings, and artefacts all play an important role in giving a specific character to your home.

There are numerous factors to consider, when decorating your home. For instance one needs to keep in mind the latest furniture trends while decorating one’s abode.

Furniture trends this year look to embolden us with bright colours and mirrored pieces while also providing a sense of comfort and security with traditional styles and reclaimed hardwoods mixed with metals. Stylised pieces made from reclaimed woods are also popular this year. Designers are now creating popular period pieces with reclaimed woods and applying a weathered finish. An eclectic blend of metal, glass and wood is also appearing on many items including coffee and accent tables, chests and other pieces.

Decorating a house by following the latest furniture trends can be both fun and stressful, not to mention time consuming and exhausting. However, there are a number of home stores that offer a variety of home furnishings and also accessories that complement the furniture. These home stores are a blessing to those who are pressed for time and want ready-made stuff for their homes. Summer is a time for change and renewal of the home. So, if you are planning to revamp your furnishings or add a little flair to your home then visit ‘Barry’s Home’. Barry’s home store has many pieces of furniture that reflect the modern trends. Read on to find out more about the launch and the store...

The launch:

Recently, Sadaf and Jamil Barry launched ‘Barry’s Home Store’ at a glamorous Red carpet launch in Islamabad. The event, organised by Rezz events, was an elegant one. A number of media personalities, fashionistas and celebrities attended this graceful ceremony. “Barry’s has come all the way from Lahore to Islamabad. Islamabad is a very affluent and quality-focused city, with tremendous support for architecture. This is a place where the people have the passion for their home,” said Jamil Barry, the company’s CEO, who was present at the launching ceremony. Socialites and Isloo dwellers walked the red carpet and enjoyed reception over mocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

About the store:

Founded in 1943, and headquartered in Lahore, Barry’s has now opened in Islamabad. In an uncluttered, more than 8000 square feet of presentation space, Barry’s Home is set within one of the Islamabad’s most premier trendsetting neighbourhoods. The store has been creatively designed and displays assorted home accessories and select pieces of furniture. The fabulous collection also includes objects d’ art, mirrors and tabletop pieces. The store also offers an exciting range of fine upholstery. The fabric palette consists of linen, velvets, chenille, printed and woven patterns and an array of plain cloth shades.

The ‘In’ colours:

The colours you choose are important in determining a home’s overall atmosphere.

Neutral colours are always a great choice because they can work with a variety of different styles and design elements. Earth tones make a big play in the 2012 palette. Tones here include Masada, Farm Fresh, Dunmore Cream and Fresh Olive.

A useful tip:

Furniture trends go multifunctional. In times when space is almost a luxury, pieces of furniture that perform more than one task are in demand. Look for extra storage space in closets, tables, under beds and in entertainment consoles and enjoy each free corner and inch of space you have.
