Summer days are here and it's that time of the year when we want to emphasise less on covering up under layers of foundation, concealer and powder and instead focus on the natural beauty of our skin.
Summer is full of pleasures - but melting makeup, sliding eyeliner, and super sticky lipstick are not among them. Makeup wise, this summer's emphasis is on great skin, softly highlighted cheekbones and subtle lips. With the proper use of foundation and blusher 'that' radiance can be yours this summer. Think pinks and peaches for fairer skin tones, and light golden bronze for darker skins.
The summer make up should be done in a smart way so that it will protect your skin from sun exposure and at the same time stays fresh by avoid excessive sweating. Summer, like winter, requires its own special beauty tricks. For keeping makeup looking fresh and pretty, even when the weather is working against you, here are some beauty tips and tricks for the hot season.
The first summer makeup tip is to pick a moisturizer or sun block with a SPF factor of 15 or higher to combat early signs of aging, harsh sun spots and fine lines.
Avoid using heavy foundation in summer. Tinted moisturizer is another possibility for adding just a little colour to that pale complexion.
In summer it's a good idea to use an oil free foundation and it should be kept as light and dewy as possible. Apply a fluid or creme foundation with the fingertips, and blend with a sponge for a flawless finish. Let this absorb completely before starting makeup. For evenings, there are several illuminating, loose and pressed powders on the market now, which add a bit of sparkle with both gold and bronze effects. Shop around!
Go easy with the eye makeup for summer. Use the waterproof mascara and avoid liquid eye liners. You can use eye pencils in different colours. Use oil-based eye makeup remover to remove the mascara and liner.
Spidery looking lashes are out this summer. So one coat of mascara should be enough.
Pretty pink shades are always preferable in summer. The easiest way to achieve a nice look of rosy cheeks is with a blush. Get your summer make up done by applying a nice cheeky shade along your cheekbones until you get the soft natural glow.
Instead of a heavy lipstick, opt for a lip gloss with a smidgen of colour. Nude lips look so much more natural. Colouring with a pencil and then applying a layer of lip gloss should do the trick.
You can make your lips luscious and desirable by applying a sheer coat of lip balm to condition your lips before applying lipstick or lip gloss.
Use a hint of colour on one feature. A stain of fuchsia-tinted gloss on your lips, a wash of mauve shadow across your eyelids or a peach blush mixed with bronzer on the apples of your cheeks will liven up your complexion and accents this summer's natural look beautifully.
When choosing a summer hair colour, stick to natural colours. The sun will naturally lighten hair, so you don't want to go to an extreme.
If you are flaunting your toes all over the place this summer, then consider painting your nails a fun, bright colour. Bold colours such as hot pink or bright orange are especially popular this summer and look great on most skin types. Bright colours are especially striking against dark skin.
Keep the sweat off your neck with headbands, ballerina bands, ponytails, loose buns or even kerchiefs. All are gorgeous looks for summer.
