So, keeping that in mind You! has collaborated with cooking expert Lubna Shariff to bring a special recipe of 'Spicy potato bonda' that is perfect for iftari. Ingredients
Big potatoes (boiled and mashed) 3
Large onion (finely chopped) 1
Hara masala (finely chopped) as required
Salt to taste
Red chilli powder 2 tsps
Anar dana (crushed) 2 tsps
Zeera powder 1 tsp
For Tempering
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Curry leaves 1 stalk
Kalonji 1 tsp
Oil 1 cup
For Batter
Besan 11/2 cups
Salt to taste
Chilli powder 1 tsp
Chat masala 1 tsp
Water as required
Oil for deep frying

Start off by adding all the ingredients in the mashed potatoes except for the tempering ingredients
Now heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaves and kalonji. Cook for a while.
n Then mix the mashed potatoes and cook for a few minutes. Mix well.
n Remove from the heat and let it cool.
n Shape the potato mixture into lemon sized balls and set aside.
n Now mix all the ingredients of the batter together and make a thick paste.
n Dip each potato ball in the batter.
n In a wok heat oil and deep fry till the balls turn golden brown.
n Serve hot with chutney.
