  Spicy potato bonda  
 

It's the Holy month of Ramazan and we make special preparations for the sehr and iftar time. So, keeping that in mind You! has collaborated with cooking expert Lubna Shariff to bring a special recipe of 'Spicy potato bonda' that is perfect for iftari. Try out this yummy recipe and make your iftar menu exceptional. Happy Ramazan!


Ingredients


Big potatoes (boiled and mashed)                  3


Large onion (finely chopped)          1


Hara masala (finely chopped)          as required


Salt    to taste


Red chilli powder          2 tsps


Anar dana (crushed)          2 tsps


Zeera powder          1 tsp


 


For Tempering


Mustard seeds          1 tsp


Curry leaves          1 stalk


Kalonji 1 tsp


Oil      1 cup


 


For Batter


Besan  11/2 cups


Salt    to taste


Chilli powder          1 tsp


Chat masala          1 tsp


Water as required


Oil      for deep frying

Start off by adding all the ingredients in the mashed potatoes except for the tempering ingredients


Now heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaves and kalonji. Cook for a while.


n        Then mix the mashed potatoes and cook for a few minutes. Mix well.


n            Remove from the heat and let it cool.


n        Shape the potato mixture into lemon sized balls and set aside.


n        Now mix all the ingredients of the batter together and make a thick paste.


n        Dip each potato ball in the batter.


n        In a wok heat oil and deep fry till the balls turn golden brown.


n        Serve hot with chutney.
