here is nothing more therapeutic than a fine dining experience. And today eating out has become a high-drama opportunity to immerse oneself in not only good food and conversation but in an experience that makes a humdrum day exciting. To create an atmosphere as such, restaurant owners need to think of out-of-box ideas that convince the customers to pick that particular restaurant over the hundred of others. This is why many interior designers have incorporated technology, art, and nature among other themes to create a world for diners to escape to. One of the places that reflect the ideology of innovativeness is Club Genova. Having opened up recently in Defence, Karachi, this hot spot is more than just a hang out place.
Club Genova is the only place in Karachi where one can find three different themes under one roof; a cigar lounge, restaurant, and a cafe. Aimed at people of all ages, it is a place where everyone will have a good time. The restaurant has three floors, all divided into different themes and colour schemes; each serving a distinct purpose. The middle floor is a restaurant that runs on the Italian theme, with a typical restaurant decor and a classic twist. This is where one can enjoy delicious Italian and Mexican cuisine or a mouth watering burger and is meant for families to dine in. The upper floor, made for youngsters, has an ultra modern theme. Darkly lit, with additional funky red and blue lights, this floor looks like a club and is perfect for teenagers. The wooden ceiling with printed wallpaper in itself is a work of art and adds the real modern touch to the theme. It also has an eye catching bar, which offers amazing cocktail specials.
Last but not least, is the basement, more popularly known as the Cigar lounge. The unique selling point of this area is the extra cosy furniture and the exquisite decor. Walking down the stairs, the first thing that catches one's eye is the beautiful white and red sports bikes; the dream of every man. The bikes displayed are not only extremely expensive, but are also decoration items that no other cafe in Karachi has used as yet.
"The bike display is there only to attract customers," said Rizwan, the owner of the place. "And everyone really loves this idea. In fact recently, one of our customers proposed to his girlfriend in that spot, while others pose on the bikes and get pictures taken."
Next comes the beautiful wooden floor, the LCD TV's and lastly, the luxurious leather couches. One just wants to fall into those couches and spend the night there, that's how comfy they are. The main attraction of the cigar lounge however, is the cigar house that offers Cuban cigars to the public.
"The cigars I have chosen are great in quality and have so far created a buzz amongst the customers. Mostly people in their thirties prefer these cigars due to the fact that they are highly priced," shared Rizwan.
The architect and interior designer of the place, Sarwat Ashraf from Dubai, literally went all out to create a hangout spot that is worlds apart from the rest. Even the furnishing and cutlery used is imported, all in order to, as Rizwan quoted, "To give the customers a taste of luxury and class." The club also offers homemade sheeshas that not only taste good but look spectacular too. The sheeshas brought from Dubai have the 'Arabic' style oozing out of them and intricate patterns and distinct colour combinations can be spotted on them.
"The main idea behind this restaurant is to create a place that has everything," said Rizwan while explaining the key elements of the hot spot. "Usually people go out to eat and then have desserts and coffee somewhere else. Whereas, with Genova all you have to do is go from one floor to another."
Intending to revolutionise the eating out experience, the restaurant has managed to make waves in the eating out business and will soon be opening up in Lahore.
