A serious issue

AoA,

Committing suicide is becoming common in our country. Reading the letter of the little kid of Pakistan International Public School (PIPS) seriously woke me up. Guys, who should we blame? The parents, media or society? We are really going wrong, and I beg parents to have faith in their children. I request the editor to run an article on this issue. Now, coming to June 8 issue, the article by Anadil Iftikhar was really good and I think it was the best article ever. Moving towards the ‘Poets’ Corner’, the poem by Asma Iftikhar was really well written and it was very touchy. Good to see Chachi back and I request her to write more and more. Keep rocking, guys!

Sarcastically speaking!

Hey,

What’s this I hear about people taking to the streets in protest against load-shedding? Burning tires, breaking glass windows, denting cars! Such jahil mentality, I feel disgusted just watching the news. Oh, but it may be good for them - now they’re looting fruit shops and offices! Now let’s just wait for someone to die in the chaos and the whole situation will be perfect. Sarcastically speaking, of course. And all this while the people they’re supposed to be protesting against sit safely in their comfortable homes. When will anyone realise?

Quality matters

Hi Ed,

Us is one of my childhood friend ... always keep rocking!

Many people complain about the quality of paper but it is the stuff inside that matters - not the quality of paper. The rest is awesome!

Saad Javed under invisibility cloak

Hey Eddy,

Us is going awesome, especially the anime part. ‘Fret o Fret’ and ‘Trust Us’ are going great. By the way, where is Saad Javed? Please bring him back. Is there any story writing competition or any other event going on?

Hi Eddy,

I am writing to Us after a very long time to tell you that the issue of  June 16 was ravishing. ‘Graffiti’ was amusing and the cover story was just to my taste. Brilliant work. Keep up the good work, Eddie. Where’s Saad Javed? Tell him to come back. I miss his write-ups so much. Especially Begums and Broomsticks :). You rock, Saad!

Being thin is cool!

Asalam-o-Alaikum Ed,

I was just going through some past issues of Us and I came along two articles which were well written and I couldn’t appreciate them at that time ... so here I am! One was ‘Of Osama, Obama ... and the sandwiches’ (May 13, 2011) by Luavut Zahid and the other one was Saad Javed’s ‘Of story and story telling’ (7th Dec, 2007). Both were so good and I feel that today’s Us is not as heavy as it used to be ... but then again, being thin is cool too - as long as the quality is good :D

Hi readers,

Our chit-chats are getting few and far between ... the reason being Us on starvation diet and all that Ethiopian allusion you people out there are so fond of! Our doctor writers would assure you that less is more, oh so often than not...

We hope you all are through with your examination and are ready to be more proactive. We would like you all to participate in the annual Us Story Writing Competition. What, had you all forgotten it? Let Us jolt you out of your slumber, folks. The closing date for sending your stories is August 12, midnight. The word count for the stories is 700 to 2000 words. And, of course, one entrée from one writer! So what are you waiting for? Get on with it...

We would take this opportunity to mention one thing that has been troubling us: some of you uh, use very rude vocabulary to denounce the opinion of anyone they don’t agree with. It is perfectly all right to differ, but shouldn’t we be civil about voicing our views? We believe we need not say more, and hope our dissenters will express their opinion more courteously. We have had to reject some letters that were utterly offensive and believe Us, when we tell you that we don’t like to dump letters in that supposedly ever hungry bin! You are more than welcome to berate us, though, and to commend us if you feel we deserve it!

Till next time,

Allah Hafiz

Reflection

Narated By Anas bin Malik: The Prophet said, “Facilitate things to people (concerning religious matters), and do not make it hard for them and give them good tidings and do not make them run away (from Islam).”
