  US MAIL
  First timers’ corner

I have just started reading Us after my O’ level papers. Your magazine is quite good, but it is in need of improvement. I would like you to make your magazine little bit more          colourful and attractive. Try to use bright colours for the front page as that would attract children, teenagers as well as adults and also increase the size of this magazine.

I hope you will take my suggestion into consideration. Please, do publish my letter as it’s my first letter to Us. Keep up the good work!

Amna Rizwan, Karachi

Assalam o Alaikum Editor,

I have been enjoying Us for the last several months and always find it interesting. This is my very first e-mail. I want to suggest that you give two pages for mails instead of a single one, so that more readers will be able to express themselves. I hope this mail will not be ignored.

Suggestion

Dear Us,

I hope that you will take my suggestion to add some interesting cricket news in your magazine. I, as a cricket fan, would appreciate your magazine more if only you would include some cricket news in it. Please add some cricketers’ posters in it as well. I am also hoping to write a story for the story-writing competition. Please tell me on which e-mail address should I mail my story, if I want to.

Feedback

Assalam-o-Alaikum Ed!

The issue of June 15 was awesome. This time it was overshadowed by doctors. Both the doctors wrote well but my special praise goes to Dr.Javeria Hayat. Her writing style was excellent and impressive.

I agree with Farooq Khan’s view in the letters section. Brother, it’s our bad luck that our rulers have made making the two ends meet for our parents very difficult. That’s why they can’t focus on their other responsibilities, which is leading to irreparable loss where our young

generation is concerned.

Ed,

This letter is in response to a letter in the July 6th issue. Fatemah, you said that Us magazine is for adults. Uh, puh-leez, you should know what you had written. I am 13 years old and I read the whole mag, from letters to Guru’s problem solving section. And I have been reading Us since I was 10 years old. You should have thought about what you had written. :(

Anique Malik

Well, Anique, kids often watch movies and read books that are not for them, but reading Us is fine if they find it interesting! It is great to know that you have been reading Us since you were 10 years of age. However, it does not change the fact that Us is a magazine for the youth. Hope you understand!

Dear Ed,

The issue of 29 June was amazing. I loved the poems, but it was the write ups of Naeema and Faiza that completely bowled me over. Naeema’s writing would give courage to many young people to go for what they want instead of they are expected to do; something that is really not done in our country! Good job, Naeema! Maybe these doctor writers were also pushed into medicine by their parents? They all have a knack of writing so beautifully. Faiza, what a writer you are! I love most of Us writers, but all these docs take the cake! I hope to see stories from our doctors, and maybe you should announce a separate competition for them; if not, other writers may find it difficult to compete.

I have a suggestion: instead of 16 pages, make it a special edition with at least 50 pages for the story writing competition.

Editor,

With reference to the letter of Humaira Maryam, I believe that we do have gender discrimination and I am a living example. I feel jealous of Hayyan Khawar (not really)! He was proud to represent his country, and so do I after reading his colourful experience. I also want to congratulate our intelligent girls from Peshawar! In a nutshell, it was overall a proud feeling to learn about the vibrant and active youth of Pakistan. Letís make it a bright country together!

Beat of luck, folks.

Reflection

Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) was the most generous of all the people, and he used to be more generous in the month of Ramazan when Gabriel used to meet him. Gabriel used to meet him every night in Ramazan to study the Holy Quran carefully together. Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) used to become more generous than the fast wind when he met Gabriel.
