Hi
I am writing for the first time because I couldn’t resist thanking Amna Khalil for the article ‘Acing MCAT - If I can do it, so can you’. It had some great pieces of advice, especially after a bad score in FSc part one. So, thanks a lot, Amna. This cover story was a morale boosting drink for me. Keep writing :)[image]
P.S. Love Us mag

Salaam Ed!
First of all, I would like to say a big thank you for publishing such an awesome and informative mag. The issue of 24th August was really good. I would like to thank Amna Khalil for ‘Acing MCAT - If I can do it, so can you ‘. I was really in need of such guidance. Next year, I will also be going through the same situation, so the story was very helpful. The rest of the mag was also great.

AoA Eddy,
I am writing a letter to Us for the first time. I’ve been a regular reader of your magazine for the last four to five years. Your magazine is great! The cover story of August 24 by Amna Khalil was simply outstanding and ‘Graffiti’ was also great. I request your team to increase the number of pages. Lastly, what is the procedure for sending you stories and poems, as people say my work is quite nice?
Please print my letter. I will wait for your reply.

You can send your stories to us.mag@thenews.com.pk and your poems to uspoetscorner@gmail.com
Let’s call it a truce
Editor,
I am afraid my letter is rather long, but I just wanted to clear the air and remove the misconceptions generated by my previous letter referring to “Citius, Altius, Fortius” by Nabeel Naqvi, I would say it was only due to ambiguity from my side that the Us staff mistook what I said. In my earlier letter, I had wanted to pinpoint the lines where the writer said he was kind of infatuated by the French language ... and was trying to figure out the French word for zero. This was what I had meant! The article actually was a treat (or a pizza :p). It provided a lot of information regarding everything about Olympics. I am really very sorry if I was rude...
Moving towards Afaq’s letter, it was just as sweet as a pancake ;) Thank you very much for commending my letter. I think I am by far the most die-hard fan of anime, and especially of Naruto. I also want to contribute to Us magazine a story or stuff based on anime, but due to my very hectic schedule I just cant get the ball rolling. Studying in FSc consumes so much of my chakra (and everybody else’s) that I cannot do else, but can only enjoy reading this mag. In the end … Pakistan Zindabad!![image]

Query
Dear Sir,
I want to ask whether you pay if someone sends an article for publishing in the Us magazine and also which type of articles are preferred for publishing.
Ahmed Riaz
We pay for the published articles. Us is a magazine for the youth and caters to the stuff pertaining to the youth. We suggest you read Us to find out the type of articles that are published.:P
Feedback
Hi Ed,
Starting with the praise, the On Campus issue (24 Aug) was great as always and my letter in the mag made it more precious for me. I was happy to see your reply but i would have been happier if you had replied ‘YES’:p The advice for the teachers was funny to read, and Amna Khalil’s story about preparing for MCAT inspired me a lot. I have determined that from now onwards, I will study hard:p. Also, F.Zee’s article was great. All in all, the issue was perfect.

Hey Ed,
Today’s Us (Aug 31) was brilliant. ‘This Summer, That Summer’ by Saad Javed was the jewel in the crown. I love Saad’s writing style. ‘Someone Out There’ by Hira Humayun was pretty good, too. She should write more often. I suggest that you make the ‘Greetings’ page a monthly feature.I must say your online edition is very user friendly.
Cheers,
Hamna Sakhawat
Reflection
Narrated Anas (R.A):
I heard from Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) a narration which none other than I will narrate to you. The Prophet, said, ‘From among the portents of the Hour are the following: General ignorance (in religious affairs) will prevail, (religious) knowledge will decrease, illegal sexual intercourse will prevail, alcoholic drinks will be drunk (in abundance), men will decrease and women will increase so much so that for every fifty women there will be one man to look after them.’
