This week’s terror attack in Bajaur claimed the life of an assistant commissioner, shaking the fragile fabric of our security apparatus. It has raised serious concerns in the minds of ordinary citizens. If a high-ranking official can be martyred, how can the protection of ordinary people be ensured? How can terrorists so easily target officials? Where are the loopholes in our system? Pakistan must deal with this menace with an iron hand. Otherwise, it will continue to erode the very social, economic, and political foundations of the country.
