ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Wednesday he never thought about appointing some of his favourite Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in November.
Addressing a seminar titled “Regime change conspiracy and Pakistan’s destabilisation” on Wednesday, the former prime minister categorically rejected the claim of PML-N leader Khurram Dastgir against him that he was going to appoint General Faiz Hameed as the new army chief for personal interests.
Khan said he never violated merit in sports or even in the hiring in Namal University or Shaukat Khanum Hospital.
“Controlling the army by appointing a favourable army chief is a problem for Nawaz Sharif to save his corruption,” he said, adding: “And now the PML-N is doing the same thing in all departments by appointing its favourite heads everywhere like FIA.”
The PTI chief said USA did not change its regime for democracy but for its own interest across the world. “So now it should be decided whether Pakistanis want to be used like tissue paper or not, which is the main reason for my slogan ‘Absolutely Not’ anymore,” he said.Khan went on to say he felt pain when the “neutrals appointed thugs and thieves” in the government because he was not thinking about such a thing ever. Concluding his speech Khan raised a question: “Can a security guard be neutral during a robbery in a house.”
