MULTAN: Governor Balighur Rehman has nominated three new members for Bahauddin Zakariya University Syndicate and issued notification here on Saturday, BZU officials said.
The Syndicate’s new members include leading Industrialist and Chairman of the Board of Management of Multan Institute of Cardiology Khawaja Muhammad Jalaluddin Roomi, renowned educationist and novelist Prof Farhat Zafar and Prof Shamila Khaliq, Principal, Government Graduate College for Women, Shah Rukan-e-Alam Multan. Roomi’s services for education and public health sectors in South Punjab, Balochistan and other areas are commendable.
Academic, social and political circles of South Punjab have hailed the nomination of Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi as a syndicate member at Bahauddin Zakariya University.
CLEANLINESS ON EID: The Multan Waste Management Company (MWMC) has finalized arrangements to keep the environment clean on Eidul-Azha. A target of disposing of 16000 tons of offal waste has been fixed during Eid days. During the last Eid days, 13883 tons of animal waste were disposed of.
“More than 2500 company workers will take part in the cleanliness drive”, CEO MWMC Muhammad Farooq Dogar said while briefing Secretary Local Government Punjab on the video link. He said a total of 722 vehicles are ready for Eid operation. “264 vehicles will be rented for the first day of Eid while the same number of vehicles will be rented for the second day and 194 vehicles for the third day”, he said.
It was informed in the briefing that 135 heavy vehicles and 88 loader rickshaws owned by a company will also take part in the Eid cleaning operation while 25 officers will monitor the cleanliness. Mohammad Farooq Dogar said that 15 public awareness camps will be established while 16 temporary collection points would be set up in the city to collect the offal of sacrificial animals.
The cleanliness drive will start daily at 7 am and continue till 7 pm and workers will be served lunch in the field, he said. It was further decided that a complaint centre (1139) will remain open during Eid days to register public complaints while messages for cleanliness on WhatsApp 0305-9215555 can be sent. Company Secretary Kabir Khan, Chief Internal Auditor Asif Tahir, Managers Aqeel Ahmed, Fahim Khan Lodhi, Anwarul Haq, Imran Khan and Deputy Manager Asad Khurshid were also present during the briefing.
