ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Q has challenged the verdict of Lahore High Court revoking the decision of speaker Punjab Assembly with regard to delegation of powers in the Supreme Court. In a petition filed at the Apex Court, the PML Q termed the decision of Lahore High Court (LHC) an interference in the powers of parliament.

The petition submitted that under the Constitution, the High Court could not interfere in the powers of the parliament since all the institutions were bound to work within their Constitutional parameters.

The party has prayed the court to fix the case for early hearing. It is pertinent to mention that the speaker Punjab Assembly had transferred his powers to the deputy speaker under rules. Later, he withdrew his powers and his act was challenged in the Lahore High Court. The LHC declared the speaker’s move null and void.
