LAHORE: The FIA on Wednesday decided to challenge in the Lahore High Court (LHC) the bail granted to Moonis Elahi, son of Punjab CM Pervaiz Elahi and former federal minister, in money laundering case of Rs24 billion.
The FIA submitted plea in this regard to the office of Deputy Attorney General Asad Bajwa. The FIA took the stance that the banking court’s confirmation of the interim bail to Moonis Elahi is contrary to the facts.
The FIA said in the plea that Moonis Elahi should be arrested over the charge of money laundering of Rs24 billion, then the case could fully be investigated and the report would be submitted to the court. In the petition, the LHC has been requested to cancel the bail of Moonis Elahi. The Deputy Attorney General will refer plea to the LHC after reviewing it.
