ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) has made up its mind to take on the PTI in the political arena in case it opts to dissolve the provincial assemblies instead of knocking at the door of the superior judiciary.
Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar made it clear that approaching the courts on the question of assemblies’ dissolution is not an option. The PMLN being the most popular political party would challenge the PTI in politics. It would not be possible for the PTI and Imran to cheat the people of Punjab any further but KP would turn up to be Waterloo for the party that has been deceiving the people.
In a brief chat with The News here Saturday evening, Senator Tarar said that no signal of weakness would be given to the rivals since the PMLN being an experienced political party that has served the people in past and is still doing the best, would prefer to fight with its adversary taking the masses on its side. He maintained that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif who is also President of the PMLN would discuss all aspects of the situation with the PDM leaders in a day or two before making an announcement pertaining to the final strategy. “If PTI decides to dissolve the provincial assemblies, it would find us among the people before it tries to reach them,” he said.
The law minister asked how far the overnight change of Imran Khan’s stance could be viewed as a political attitude. He said that Imran and his party always remained ambiguous but the coalition partners have been following a neat and clean political approach. He endorsed the position taken by the PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari with regard to PTI and Imran Khan.
