ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected former speaker National Assembly (NA) Asad Qaisar plea for dismissing the case of violation of Section 144, use of loudspeaker and protest against him.
The case came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri here Monday. The court remarked during the hearing of the case that the challan has been filed and the matter is in trial court. The plea seeking dismissal of case is rejected.
Sher Afzal Murwwat, counsel for Asad Qaisar, appeared in the court and read out FIR to the court. The counsel for Asad Qaisar told the court that Asad Qaisar was not present on the occasion and his name was placed in FIR.
The court inquired about the name of Asad Qaisar in FIR and allegation against him in it. State counsel told the court that protest was staged in connection with release of Shahbaz Gill. The case related to intimidation, threatening and violation of Section 144 is registered. Slogans were chanted to set free Shahbaz Gill. The court rejected Asad Qaisar plea for dismissing the case.
