DUBAI: President of Pakistan Muslim League-Q Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has dubbed the holding of provincial elections prior to the general elections as “recipe for disaster” for the nation.
Speaking at the Iftar party of the Grand Overseas Club-UAE in Dubai, the former governor said the judicial interference in the political decisions would also harm integrity of the country.
Recently, after being elected as the chief organiser of Pakistan Muslim League and the party›s provincial president of Punjab, Chaudhry Sarwar expressed concern that if the elections in different provinces were held on different days, the country will become a victim of serious chaos and division.
He said the judiciary is mandated to interpret the Constitution, but if they start taking political decisions, then that superior institution would also be divided, which is reflected in the current decisions of the judiciary. He also invited all the political parties to sit together and consult for the betterment of the country. He emphasised the immediate need for a charter of the economy for the country.
He stated that his party met with the Chief Executive Officers of a hundred major companies in Pakistan and consulted with them to revive the economy. He said the political parties should introduce democratic system in their parties for a strong democratic system in the country.
