RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: Two civilians were martyred, while seven civilians and three soldiers got injured in a suicide attack on a convoy of security forces in Bannu district.
A motorcycle borne suicide bomber, affiliated with Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group and later identified as an Afghan national, exploded himself on a security forces’ convoy in general area Bakka Khel, Bannu district on Sunday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said.
Resultantly, two innocent civilians embraced Shahadat, while seven civilians and three soldiers got injured. Sanitization operation is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.
Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave civilians and soldiers further strength our resolve, the ISPR said.
Meanwhile, former president and President Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have condemned a suicide attack on a security caravan in Bannu.
In a statement on Monday, Zardari and Bilawal expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives. They said that an example should be made out of the terrorists and their facilitators. “Those challenging the writ of the state and attacking security forces are the nation’s enemies,” they said.
They prayed to Allah Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed souls. They also prayed for a speedy recovery for all those injured in the attack.
