ISLAMABAD: Civil Judge Mureed Abbas Khan Wednesday rejected the PTI chief Imran Khan’s request for acquittal in the female judge intimidation case.

Imran, through his lawyers, had filed an application under Section 249 for acquittal which the court rejected and directed retrial of the case from December 20.

In the last hearing, Salman Safdar, the counsel for Imran, had completed his arguments.

The deposed prime minister was booked under terrorism charges in August 2022 by the Margalla police station in for his remarks in a public rally at the F9 Park where he warned Additional District and Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry and police high-ups of dire consequences for their “biased” attitude towards his party.

Imran had alleged that Judge Zeba was aware of the torture being inflicted upon the PTI leader Shahbaz Gill in jail and still did not release him on bail.

He had also threatened to take action against the judge as well as the IGP and deputy inspector general police (DIG) of Islamabad. The case was registered by the complainant Magistrate Ali Javed.
