Workers’ rights

Friday, Dec 01, 2023

Marble factory workers in Islamabad are exposed to high levels of marble dust in their workplace. This issue is not only an environmental concern but also a serious health hazard for the workers and the inhabitants of the surrounding area. The cutting and grinding of marble releases calcium carbonate and silica dust in the air. Prolonged exposure may lead to serious respiratory and skin problems. The workers are often not provided with protective gear which is their legal right. The relevant authorities are requested to look into this matter.
