LAHORE: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) continues its crackdown in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, disconnecting another 122 connections.
According to a gas utility spokesperson, 269 under billing cases have been processed, imposing Rs7.8 million fine.
In Lahore, the regional team has disconnected 11 connections for illegal use of gas and nine for using compressors. Forty-seven under-billing cases have been processed. The team has also imposed a fine of Rs0.81 million for gas theft and under-billing.
Two illegal connections in Rawalpindi and 11 in Islamabad have been disconnected. In Multan, five illegal connections have been disconnected, while 120 under-billing cases have been processed, imposing a fine of RS0.32 million. The violators have been booked for under-billing and theft.
In Sheikhupura, 40 illegal connections have been severed, while two consumers have been fined for using compressors. Forty-seven under-billing cases have been processed and fine of Rs4.76 million has been imposed on the power pilferers.
In Sargodha, one illegal connection has been disconnected, while 36 under-billing cases have been processed, imposing a fine of Rs0.07 million. In Peshawar and Karak, the company has disconnected 38 connections for direct use of gas and imposed a fine of Rs1.81 million for gas theft. Two FIRs have also been lodged against the gas pilferers.
In Bahawalpur, one illegal connection has been disconnected, while 17 under-billing cases have been processed, imposing a fine of Rs0.01 million.
In Sahiwal, one illegal connection has been disconnected, while one under-billing case has been processed. In Faisalabad, 11 under billing cases have been processed and a fine of Rs0.05 million has been recovered for theft and under-billing. In Gujarat, one illegal connection has been disconnected, while in Sialkot, the team has recovered a fine of Rs0.05 million for gas theft.
