MULTAN: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said that they had promoted moderation in differences while maintaining religious identity in politics.
Addressing a ceremony in Jhok Wains, the JUI chief said they have played a role in solving public problems and overcoming all prejudices including communalism for the future of the people. If any temptation arises against the Muslim Ummah, it is among their duties to stand against it.
He said ideology, belief and attitude are their political foundation. The poor people should be treated with kindness and compassion. The protection of life, wealth, honor and other matters of the poor is the duty of the chief and the landlord of every area. If the power is given to his party, the rights of every citizen of the country must be protected, the JUI chief added.
Meanwhile, a JUI-F spokesperson on Sunday claimed party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman will become Pakistan’s next president no matter whether Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) or Pakistan Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secures a majority in parliament following general elections scheduled for February next year.
In an interview with a local TV channel, JUI-F leader Hafiz Hamdullah said if Fazl can be made the head of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), a multiparty alliance, then he can also be made the country’s president, Geo News reported.
