ISLAMABAD: A day-long ‘Hurmat Masjid Al-Aqsa Conference’ organized by Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and attended by leaders from religious parties categorically rejected two-state theory for solution of Palestine issue.

“We categorically reject two-state theory for solution of Palestine issue as Israel is an illegitimate state and its existence cannot be recognized” a declaration announced at end of conference.

JI Ameer Sirajul Haq, JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman, renowned religious leader Mufti Taqi Usmani and others also attended the conference. The participants of the conference also demanded permanent ceasefire and opening Rafah crossing with Egypt so that relief goods and medicines could be provided to injured and shelterless people of Palestine.

Addressing the conference, Sirajul Haq came harsh on the caretaker prime minister for giving solution of two states which he said was against aspirations of masses. “Neither this government enjoys mandate of people nor it represents Palestinians,” he said.

He pointed out that two-state solution as given by caretaker prime minister was also against vision of Quaid-e-Azam who had also declared Israel as an illegitimate state.

He said that an Islamic country has established a fund for protection of environment but now the Muslim countries are reluctant even to extend moral, financial and political support of oppressed people of Palestine. He assured that Ulema would extend support to rulers if they follow policies in the right direction.

Sirajul Haq expressed his deep sense of shock over a report of imprisoned Dr. Aafia Siddiqui who was subjected to sexual assault. He regretted that the government of Pakistan was also aware of the fact but lodged no protest. He called upon Pakistan government to raise the issue at international forums.
