The District Central police on Friday arrested three ‘fake’ journalists for allegedly blackmailing a woman and extorting money from her.
The arrests were made after the woman, named Zarina, complained about the suspects. According to the police spokesperson, the suspects blackmailed the complainant and extorted Rs49,000 from her, while posing as journalists.
The Rizvia police apprehended the suspects when they visited the woman's house again to collect more money. The suspects were identified as Malik Sajjad, Daniyal Ahmad and Sonia. A case has been registered against them and further investigations are underway. Police have also recovered fake press cards from the suspects.
