LAHORE:A 22-year-old female schoolteacher was injured in an acid attack in the Shahdara Town area over refusal of a marriage proposal.
Reportedly, the victim was a teacher at a school at Rachna Town, Ferozewala. On the day of the incident, she along with her brother was en-route to school when the suspects identified as Umar Farooq and Ghulam Mustafa approached and threw acid on the victim.
She received serious burn injuries and was admitted to hospital. The suspects fled the scene. Police lodged the investigations into the matter after registration of an FIR. The suspect Umar Farooq was trying to flee abroad using Sialkot International Airport where he was arrested by police. Reportedly, the prime suspect Umar Farooq had sent a marriage proposal to the victim that was turned down.
Labourer dies while at work
A 28-year-old labourer died in an accident during work at an under-construction building in Tibbi City.
The victim identified as Danish, a resident of Pir Mahal, was at work at a building in Ali Park when his foot slipped. He fell down, received serious injuries and died. The victim’s body was moved to morgue. Police said that they were investigating the matter.
Woman attempts suicide
A 35-year-old woman attempted suicide by jumping off a rooftop of a café in Defence B. The victim reportedly was at the café. She climbed up to the rooftop and jumped off. She fell down on a car and received serious injuries. The victim was moved to hospital. Police said that she was suffering from serious mental issues and committed similar acts before also.
11 die in road accidents in 24 hours
Around 11 people died, whereas 1,012 were injured in 958 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Out of these, 445 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 567 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
Biker hit to death
A 19-year-old motorcyclist has died and two others injured in a road accident near Muslim Town. The victim Abdul Wahab, 19, was riding a bike with two others. As they reached Canal Road near Muslim Town, a speeding car hit the motorbike. The victims fell down and received serious injuries. They were shifted to hospital. However, Abdul Wahab died. His body was moved to morgue.
