The weather system that had brought light to moderate rains to Karachi on Friday subsided on Saturday without significant rain. However, a cold wave unusually gripped the city in the month of March, which is not a cold month in Karachi, due to the rains.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the lowest temperature in Karachi could be between nine and 11 degrees centigrade today (Sunday).
On Saturday till the filing of this story, the least temperature had been recorded at 17 degrees centigrade.
The PMD had predicted that the temperature on Saturday might go as low as 14.8 degrees centigrade and the maximum temperature was expected to be between 19 and 21 degrees centigrade.
Tomorrow (Monday), the lowest temperature is expected to be recorded between 12 and 14 degrees centigrade.
The PMD said the current rainfall system had weakened in Sindh and Balochistan.
On Friday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the highest amount of rainfall was recorded in Quaidabad at 45 millimetres (mm) while 40mm of rain was recorded in DHA Phase II, 39.3mm in Korangi, 31mm in Keamari, 30.4mm in Surjani Town, 27mm in Gulshan-e-Hadeed and 26mm in PAF Faisal Base. Other areas received less rain such as the airport where 8.8mm of rainfall was recorded.
