Three more corona patients die in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Three more COVID-19 patients died in Faisalabad on Monday. According to a spokesperson for the health department, the coronavirus death toll rose to 1,219 in the district and 58 people tested positive for coronavirus during the last 24 hours.

He said 1,222 tests for coronavirus were conducted in public and private sectors during the same period. He said so far 22,968 patients had recovered from the disease while total active cases in Faisalabad reached 1,436. He said 339 beds were allocated at the Allied Hospital, 133 at the DHQ Hospital and 150 beds at General Hospital Ghulam Muhammadabad for COVID-19 patients.

At present, 265 patients were under treatment at the Allied Hospital, while 90 at DHQ Hospital and 54 were admitted to General Hospital Ghulam Muhammadabad. Moreover 891 patients are in home isolation.

OVERCHARGING: Price control magistrates fined 61 shopkeepers to the tune of Rs 69,000 for overcharging on Thursday. Price control magistrates conducted 879 inspections in different markets to check the prices of goods and checked the sale of food items at fixed prices and imposed fines of various denominations on vendors for making unprofitable profits.

DC inspects cleanliness situation in city: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ali Shehzad Monday visited different localities of the city and inspected its cleanliness situation.

CEO Faisalabad Waste Management Company Kashif Raza Awan and other officers of the company were also present on the occasion.

The DC visited Kachehri Bazaar, Chowk Clock Tower, Samanabad, Madani Chowk, Novelty Bridge, Djikot Road and other areas.

On the occasion, he asked the sanitary workers and officials to complete the cleaning process in the city before the commencement of normal life. He said more steps should be taken to raise the standard of cleanliness so that the city looks clean and beautiful in all respects as per the expectations of citizens.

He ordered disposed of garbage in a secure manner and said the attendance of waste workers should be monitored regularly.

CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP: Under Punjab Talent Hunt Program, U-16 Central Punjab School Cricket Championship is starting from September 15 to promote cricket at school level in which 10 teams of government and private schools have been divided into two pools.

Some 200 players will participate in the championship. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ali Shehzad stated this while distributing cricket kits among players and officials at Iqbal Stadium. The ADC, HQ Muhammad Khalid, AC City Syed Ayub Bukhari, CEO DEA Ali Ahmad Siyan and other officers were present.

The DC said the teams of both the pools will play one match each from September 15 to 25. Pool A matches will be played at Iqbal Stadium while the matches of Poles B will be played simultaneously at 10 am at Bohranwali Ground. Each team will play four matches of 40/40 overs. The final match between the top teams of both the pools will be played on September 26 at Iqbal Stadium.
