I am writing to express my concern regarding the issue of rampant encroachment in Karachi. The unchecked expansion of illegal structures on public and private land not only poses serious safety hazards but also contributes to the degradation of the city’s aesthetics and environment. The encroachment problem in Karachi has reached alarming levels, with streets, sidewalks, and even public parks being occupied by illegal constructions. This not only hampers the free movement of pedestrians and vehicles but also obstructs emergency services, such as ambulances and fire trucks, from reaching their destinations in a timely manner resulting in unwanted loss of lives.
Furthermore, the environmental impact of encroachment cannot be overlooked. Trees are being felled and green spaces are disappearing at an alarming rate, leading to increased pollution. It is imperative for the authorities to take immediate action to address this issue. Strict enforcement of existing laws and regulations, coupled with awareness campaigns and community involvement, can help curb the spread of encroachment in Karachi.
