IGP orders modern medical facilities at police hospitals

Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon on Saturday issued directives for providing modern and quality medical facilities at police hospitals of Karachi and Hyderabad.

Officials said IGP Memon presided over a meeting held at the CPO and reviewed all the medical facilities provided by OPD, including the availability of modern equipment and medicines, at the Karachi and Hyderabad police hospitals and gave necessary instructions.

The meeting was informed that on the guidelines issued during the previous tenure of the IGP, the hospitals have formally started the process of procurement of modern equipment and other necessary machinery required under the available funds, while the work on the availability of quality medicines has also been completed.

The IGP said that regular recommendations should be sent to the Sindh Health Department regarding the required services of specialist doctors at the police hospitals and at the same time all necessary steps should be ensured for ensuring the availability of services of doctors on a contract basis. He said that along with providing all quality medical facilities in the OPDs of police hospitals, quality medicines should also be provided to patients.

Memon said better and quality medical facilities should not only be ensured for the police personnel and their families, but facilities like blood tests, X-rays and other necessary tests recommended for the diagnosis of disease should also be modernized and standardized.
