ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday rejected the name of Justice (retd) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani as the head of the inquiry commission to probe the allegations leveled by six Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges in a letter.
In a statement issued here, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan insisted that a commission consisting of only serving judges should be formed. Former NA speaker Asad Qaiser blamed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the situation arising out of the judges’ letter and announced that a movement would be launched for the independence of the judiciary. Outspoken PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat declared that the head of the commission, Tassaduq Hussain Jilani, was misfit for the job.
In his reaction to the development, he wrote on ‘X’ that the letter of IHC judges should be taken seriously, as it was an issue of the dignity of judiciary and Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa should have taken suo motu notice of the matter.
