karachi: The District Keamari police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the murder case of Major Saad Sheikh, who had been martyred over a week ago.
SSP Captain (retd) Faizan Ali, the district’s police chief, said one of the suspects who had martyred an officer of an intelligence agency near the Sher Shah Bridge on March 31 was arrested after a shoot-out with the police. Two men on a motorbike had shot and robbed Major Sheikh before escaping. The victim had been hit by four bullets. He was taken to hospital, where he died after eight days.
A team led by Captain Ali had been formed to arrest the suspects. They examined the CCTV camera footage of all the areas adjacent to the crime scene, used technical means, conducted recce and traced one of the suspects.
After receiving information that one of the suspects was sighted in SITE Area on Tuesday, the police reached the spot, but the suspect opened fire on them. After a shoot-out, the suspect named Usman was arrested in an injured condition. During the interrogation, he admitted to shooting Major Sheikh, saying he and his accomplice Altaf were robbing the victim when he resisted the attempt, so he shot him and fled.
