Going dry

Saturday, Apr 13, 2024

Millions of people in Pakistan still do not have access to safe drinking water. This includes many in the capital of Islamabad, where civic amenities have deteriorated considerably in recent years. The local authorities seem more interested in levying higher taxes and auctioning plots. Aside from a lack of safe drinking water, the country’s general water insecurity has already reached critical levels. Sadly, water wastage is among the leading reasons for this problem due to the continued use of outdated water infrastructure and irrigation technologies and a lack of awareness about how water stressed the country really is.

Most offices, factories and other establishments in the country often have leaking pipes and generally tend to use water in a very wasteful manner. If water wastage continues at this alarming pace, our water crisis might reach catastrophic proportions.
