WANA: Three children were killed and one injured in a landmine explosion in Mandokai village, Shawal tehsil, Upper South Waziristan tribal district, official sources said on Friday.
The sources said the children were going to watch a volleyball match when one of them stepped on a landmine, triggering a blast. Three children were killed and another was injured in the explosion.
A volleyball tournament was taking place in the village. Instead of taking the mountainous route, the children took a shortcut, leading to one child stepping on a landmine buried in the ground.
The deceased children were identified as Naqeebullah, Noor Muhammad and Fakharuddin. The injured Hakimullah was rushed to a local hospital from where he was referred to a hospital in Dera Ismail Khan due to his condition.
