karachi: A minor girl has been mistreated by an Airport Security Force (ASF) officer at the Jinnah International Airport Karachi. A video clip of the incident shows the girl running towards her father, but the officer pulls her back by the hair and causes her to fall down on the floor.

Officials said the video has been circulating on social media platforms, and the incident that occurred in the international arrivals section has been much criticised.

The girl’s father had arrived from abroad after a long time, so she was running towards him to meet him, but the ASF officer spoiled what was supposed to be a happy reunion.

Officials said the Aviation Division had sought a report over the incident, adding that the ASF had completed their investigation and sent the report to the Aviation Division, and that the officer in question was likely to face disciplinary action.

Social media users, including former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi, expressed dismay over the incident. Afridi said that anyone incapable of showing empathy towards children should not be entrusted with any public responsibilities.

The incident has raised concerns about the behaviour of security personnel at airports, prompting calls for stricter oversight, and measures to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers and others, especially children.

An ASF spokesperson said that the video clip circulating on social media was of an old incident, claiming that it was an isolated incident and an individual act by the officer in question. The spokesperson said that such inappropriate behaviour is strictly prohibited, and disciplinary action would be taken against the officer.
