Indians suffer prolonged water shortages

DELHI: Locals in parts of the Indian capital faced severe struggles due to a prolonged water crisis on Saturday (April 13).

Residents complained of incompetence on the part of local governments and authorities as they resorted to drinking salt water due to lack of potable water.

Water tankers drew queues of residents carrying water containers, fighting to get a fill to carry out their daily chores.

With peak summer season fast approaching, water woes in the Indian capital could get much worse. In major centres such as India’s ‘Silicon Valley’ Bengaluru, home to firms like Google, opens new tab, water supply is already being curtailed.
