LAHORE: Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat met the teachers of non-formal schools who informed the minister about their professional problems and difficulties, including non-payment of salaries for the last 10 months.
The provincial minister contacted the Literacy & Non-Formal Education secretary and conducted a detailed consultation on the sensitivity of the matter.
While discussing the problems of teachers, the minister instructed the secretary to take emergency measures for the immediate resolution of the problem and to ensure payment of 10 months’ salaries and other dues to teachers in the next 20 to 30 days.
Punjab Minister for School Education Rana Sikandar Hayat said that serious measures were being taken to solve the problems of the teachers community. The minister added that work on developing a teacher compilation portal and citizen compilation portal was under way.
The education minister said that the abuses committed by the previous government with teachers and the educational system were not hidden from anyone and vowed to solve problems of the teachers on an urgent basis.
