In most democratic states, the executive is often subordinate to the legislature in word and deed. Pakistan, unfortunately, appears to be an exception to this trend. The supremacy of bureaucracy over parliament has helped push the country into a chronic state of turmoil.
Our political history bears witness to this mayhem, which has been the most prominent cause of the country’s persistent decline in almost all fields since its inception. If lessons are still not learnt, history is bound to repeat itself.
