ISLAMABAD: Secretary General Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has said his party’s doors are closed for Asad Qaiser, the former speaker of the National Assembly and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
He asked Qaiser to apologise for associating himself with an “anti-country party” and for destroying the interests of Pakistan, saying that only then the JUIF’s doors would be open for him.
Haideri made it clear that this was his message for every member who wanted to switch from Tehreek-e-Insaf to the JUIF.
Talking to a group of journalists at the Parliament House, he said Qaiser had recently contacted Maulana Fazlur Rehman and had discussed with him the political scene, especially the protest against rigged elections.
When asked to comment on reports of Qaiser joining the JUIF, he said the former speaker of the National Assembly had not contacted him about it.
