MANSEHRA: Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations on Friday increased the gasoline price by Rs20 per kilogram following the Federal Board of Revenue enhanced sales tax to Rs200 from Rs140.
The CNG stations in Mansehra and the rest of the Hazara division increased gas prices to Rs345 per kg from the existing Rs325 per kg.Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has notified the increase of sales tax for the CNG stations in Region I and Region II on April 18, 2024.
“With the increase in CNG price, our income taxes would also surge which we have adjusted in the fresh value under a set formula agreed upon by FBR and our association in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” a station manager said when approached by this correspondent.
The transporters declared the latest surge in sales tax unjustified and demanded that the government immediately withdraw it as it would trigger an increase in fares too.
“We have already been reeling from high inflation effects on our transport business, and the latest surge would compel us to increase fares,” Mohammad Waheed, a cab driver said.
