LAHORE: A new series of rains will enter Punjab from April 23, said a spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
There is a possibility of light rain in the areas of Upper Punjab on April 23. From April 26 to 29, there is a possibility of thundershowers and hail in Upper Punjab. Rain alert has already been issued across Punjab from April 18 to 21. Farmers should harvest the wheat crop keeping in view the weather conditions.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said that following the instructions of the chief minister, the administration is working round-the-clock. He said the district administration, across the province, has also been informed about the new weather situation.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority is monitoring the weather situation moment by moment, he said, adding that the next ten days are very important for rescue agencies and the district administration. He said that all possible efforts will be made to minimise damage due to storms and rains.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia issued instructions to the administration to improve drainage in low-lying areas. He said that it is important to create awareness among the general public about climate change. The citizens are advised to stay away from power poles during storms rains.
