ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamir Farooq has called a full court meeting on the issue of a letter written by six judges to the Supreme Judicial Council on intelligence agencies’ alleged interference in judicial affairs.
The senior-most judges of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Taman Rifat Imtiaz, had written to the Supreme Judicial Council on the alleged meddling. Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb was not among the judges who had signed the letter.
Taking notice of the matter, the Supreme Court had asked all High Court judges for suggestions. In the light of the orders of the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice Office had asked for suggestions from all judges, including the district and sessions judges East and West of Islamabad. A full court session has been called at 2.30 pm on April 23 after all the judges have submitted their suggestions.
