KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Monday imposed a seven-day ban on the use of drones within the limits of the Karachi division.
A notification issued by the commissioner’s office cited serious threats to vital installations by anti-state elements and hostile agencies following recent attacks on foreigners. The additional inspector general of police, Karachi Range, requested the ban on drone usage across Karachi for seven days, emphasising the need to prevent untoward incidents and ensure the safety of vital installations.
The ban, effective from April 22 to April 28, has been imposed under Section 144 of CrpC to maintain security. The SHOs have been authoritised to register complaints under Section 188 of the PPC against violators of the ban.
