LAHORE: The Executive Council of the Punjab University’s Academic Staff Association (PU-ASA) while showing concern over the postponement of TTS selection board scheduled for Wednesday (today) termed the same an ‘attempt to create a gulf between the faculty cadres’.
The meeting chaired by PU-ASA president Dr Amjad Abbas Magsi and moderated by Secretary Dr Muhammad Islam was called on a single-point agenda of holding the Selection Boards.
The President ASA informed the meeting that the Pro Vice Chancellor, who is also the acting VC, was told to hold the selection board for TTS faculty as scheduled, and in addition to that, the selection board for BPS faculty should also be called alongside. Dr Magsi reiterated that ASA was the representative of the whole community and it was its paramount obligation to protect the legitimate rights of the fraternity without any discrimination.
It was decided that a formal letter would be written to the university administration on the issue.
The ASA also criticised the delay in the disbursement of the Research grants/ Incentive Awards/ Performance Evaluation Awards noting that despite a lapse of almost two months, no progress was seen so far.
The ASA also criticised the delay in facilitating the Solarisation of the Departments and the initiative of E-governance. The meeting decided to hold a general body meeting in the upcoming week to take the teaching fraternity on board.
