Sohrab Goth police on Wednesday claimed solving a murder mystery by arresting a suspect over his alleged involvement in killing a man for resisting a mugging bid earlier this month.
SSP Farrukh Raza, chief of the District East police, said police arrested a man, identified as Ikramullah, who had killed Nabi Dad Bugti in Lassi Goth during a robbery a few days ago. Initially, the incident seemed to be a case of personal enmity, but after investigation, it turned out to be a case of robbery resistance.
A murder case was registered under sections 397/302/34 at the Sohrab Goth police station on the complaint of the victim’s brother. The SHO, along with a team, carried out a raid at a prescribed location to arrest the suspect. On seeing the police, the suspect opened fire and the cops retaliated. During the encounter, the suspect was arrested while his companions escaped. The cops claimed seizing illegal weapons and ammunition used in the murder from the suspect.
During the initial interrogation, Ikramullah confessed to killing the citizen by firing. Information about the criminal record of the accused is being obtained, and raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding co-accused.
