The Sindh and federal governments have agreed to establish committees at the provincial and district levels to resolve the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) and consumer issues.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met federal energy minister Owais Ahmad Khan Laghari in Islamabad. In the meeting, Shah raised the issue of unannounced electricity loadshedding across Sindh, including Karachi.
He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) and the Sukkur Electric Supply Company (Sepco), which are under the Federal Ministry of Energy.
The chief minister said that the poor people are concerned about loadshedding and cannot be left at the mercy of Hesco and Sepco’s incompetence.
In the meeting, the federal minister raised concerns about line losses and non-payment issues. Chief Minister Shah assured the federal minister that the provincial government was ready to provide all possible assistance to the federal government. Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah also attended the meeting.
