ISLAMABAD: Around 44 players including ten from the Karachi camp, will undergo trials on Sunday to select the Pakistan squad for Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament.
The trials will get underway at the Bunda Hockey Ground on Sunday afternoon. In all probabilities, the touring squad will be announced the same day. If necessary, there could be another session on Monday morning. The selection process will be overseen by head coach R. Oltmans, Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) representative Manzoorul Hasan, and Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Deputy Director General Shahidul Islam.
The trials are expected to be conducted in four to five sessions. It is believed that Oltmans will be given the final authority to decide on any player or players’ utility for the team. The two members will extend a helping hand to the head coach.
