Naqvi assures safety of Chinese to CG

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi called on Chinese Consul General Zhao Shiren here on Saturday.

On his arrival at the Chinese Consulate, the Chinese Consul General welcomed Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi. Issues of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation were discussed in the meeting.

Security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan was also discussed. Mohsin Naqvi informed about the measures taken for the security of Chinese citizens and said that the security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan is our national responsibility.

Mohsin Naqvi said that instructions have been issued to all relevant institutions to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens as per SOPs. “We’ll not allow any conspiracy to harm Pak-China friendship. No effort will be spared to ensure the security of the Chinese brothers, he said.

Meanwhile, Mohsin Naqvi has ordered reinforcing security protocols for foreign nationals residing in Islamabad, underscoring the government’s unwavering commitment to their safety and well-being, a spokesman for the interior ministry said.

The minister made these directions while chairing a meeting to review the law and order and ensure the foolproof security of foreign nationals. The meeting decided to establish a special protection force dedicated to the safety of foreign nationals and enhance security at all important offices and places, including the red zone in Islamabad.

Naqvi said the Islamabad Safe City Project will have to be equipped with modern requirements like the Lahore Safe City. He said they are improving the condition of police stations in Islamabad, and results in this regard will be visible in a few months.

The minister embarked on a comprehensive strategy to bolster public security and suppress organised crime syndicates operating within Islamabad. Under his directive, the IGP assigned specific tasks to the police force and their collective team, orchestrating a synchronised effort to tackle crime effectively.

The minister expressed serious concern over the proliferation of drug trafficking networks and issued directions for a stern crackdown order against such illicit operations.
