Martyred SI may be victim of targeted killing

LAHORE:In a chilling act of violence, Sub-Inspector Arshad, a dedicated officer serving at Baghbanpura police station, met a tragic end as he was gunned down by an unidentified assailant on his way home in the limits of Misri Shah police.

The incident, which took place near Aik Mori Pul, has sent shockwaves through the community and raised concerns over the safety of law enforcement officers. Arshad, 57, a diligent member of the Investigation Wing at Baghbanpura, was returning home in his police uniform when tragedy struck. Witnesses report seeing a bike rider intercepting him, waiting for the perfect moment to unleash a hail of bullets upon the unsuspecting officer. With precise aim, the assailant fired multiple shots at Arshad, fatally injuring him in the neck and chest. Despite the presence of ordinary bike riders, the perpetrator managed to evade capture, leaving behind a scene of chaos and disbelief.

Amidst the grief and shock that grips the community, a video capturing the harrowing moments of the attack has surfaced, serving as a grim reminder of the brutality that claimed the life of Sub-Inspector Arshad. The footage shows the assailants on a motorcycle approaching Sub-Inspector Arshad from behind and firing two shots. As he falls from his motorcycle, the attacker approaches him and fires two additional shots at close range before calmly fleeing the scene.

In the wake of this tragedy, the entire community stands united in mourning the loss of a brave officer, whose life was tragically cut short in the line of duty. As investigations continue and efforts to apprehend the perpetrator intensify, Sub-Inspector Arshad's legacy will endure as a testament to the resilience and unwavering dedication of those who serve and protect.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif took notice of the murder of a sub-inspector Muhammad Arshad and sought a report from the Inspector General of Police. She expressed sympathy and condolences to the family of the martyred sub-inspector. She directed that a comprehensive investigation should be conducted into the murder of the sub-inspector and the accused should be brought to justice.

Meanwhile, IG, Home Secretary, CCPO Lahore, DIG Organized Crime Unit, DIG Operations Lahore, SPs and Jawans attended the funeral prayer of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Arshad Shaheed at Police Lines Qila Gujar Singh. IG saluted the body of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Arshad and laid floral wreath. A smartly turned-out police squad presented a guard of honour to the body of martyred Sub-Inspector Muhammad Arshad. IG Punjab met the family members of the martyr and assured them of full cooperation.
