CHITRAL: The people of Chitral on Sunday handed over an ailing wolf to the Wildlife Department after taking good care of the wild animal which they found in the populated area.
The incident happened in far-off Washich Payeen village of the Torkow tehsil in the Upper Chitral district.
The female wolf came down from the hills to the Lotdeh village of the valley in an ailing condition. The animal laid down at a thoroughfare as it was unable to move further.
The people spotted the animal and a social worker, Amjad Ali, headed a group of other God-fearing people who took the animal into their care. It was covered with a warm cloth and provided a shelter.
Meanwhile, they called the staff of the Wildlife Department in the Upper Range in Booni, the headquarters of the Upper Chitral district.
Range Officer Munir Ahmad reached the spot along with other staff members -- Mehboobur Rehman and Abdali and a vet.
The staff members examined the ailing wolf which had grown weak but did not bear any visible marks on the body.
They shifted the wild animal to the vehicle and headed to Booni for treatment after thanking the local people for showing kindness to the wolf.
